The 7th Annual Skagit Human Rights Festival (SHRF) expands with a mix of speakers, discussions, and films at two locations this March.
* Friday March 5th - 7 pm at Philip Tarro Theater on the Skagit Valley College Campus, Mount Vernon. Donations appreciated.
Housing as a Human Right, the film First Earth
The film First Earth, Uncompromising Ecological Architecture explores the reasons why we need to think differently about house and home, for material and spiritual reasons, and stop seeing them as status symbols or investment. Every human being has the right to safe, affordable shelter.
A panel representing Skagit Home Trust, Skagit County Community Action Agency, the Natural Building Network, and Author David Sucher will answer questions after the film.
Jack Stephens of the Natural Building Network, will lead a hands-on follow up workshop on Saturday morning, convening in the meeting room at the Skagit Valley Food Co-op in downtown Mount Vernon at 9am

The focus of this year’s Skagit Human Rights Festival is on the role that the media plays in driving our perceptions of world events. The Skagit Valley College radio station, KSVR 91.7 fm, will record the events and feature human rights programming throughout February and March.
